Parakkode Block Panchayat-Level World Environment Day Celebration
Parakkode: As part of the observance of World Environment Day, Parakkode Block Panchayat organized a meaningful Environment Day celebration under its leadership. The programme was inaugurated by Adv. C.V. Shanthakumar, Hon'ble MLA of Adoor, by planting a Java Plum (Jamun) sapling in the Block Panchayat premises.
In his inaugural address, the MLA emphasized that the conservation of natural resources is essential for ensuring global ecological balance and climate sustainability. He called upon everyone to work collectively towards achieving carbon neutrality and creating a better future for the coming generations.
The function was presided over by Smt. Binilal, President of Parakkode Block Panchayat. Greetings were delivered by Shri P.K. Murali, Vice President; Shri Ajikumar Randamkutty, Chairman of the Development Standing Committee; Smt. Shobhana Kunjukunju, Chairperson of the Welfare Standing Committee; and Smt. Laly Sudarsanan, Chairperson of the Health and Education Standing Committee.
Block Panchayat Members Shri Sunil Pallikkal, Shri Arun P.S., Smt. Sreedevi Balakrishnan, Shri T.D. Saji, Smt. L. Ushakumari, and Shri Suresh Kuzhuvelil, along with Joint BDO Shri S.K. Sunilkumar, also addressed the gathering.
The programme was organized with the objectives of raising public awareness about environmental conservation and promoting greening initiatives through tree planting. The event, attended by elected representatives, officials, and staff members, conveyed a strong message to society on the importance of protecting and preserving the environment.
